Christian Science U.S. Military Chaplain Program
The Albert Baker Fund (ABF) provides tuition scholarships to Christian Scientists who are enrolled in the Christian Science U.S. Military Chaplain Program.
The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, MA (The Mother Church) trains chaplains for the U.S. Military. A Christian Science Chaplain is a commissioned military officer serving as a Protestant Chaplain in the Armed Forces. The training program comprises three major components: formal seminary education, regular training under the auspices of The Mother Church, and practical field experience.

The Albert Baker Fund (ABF) provides tuition scholarships to Christian Scientists pursuing an approved graduate degree at Boston University (or another approved school).
Scholarship funds are made payable directly to the educational institution.
βοΈ Scholarship Requirements
Qualifications to apply for the Christian Science U.S. Military Chaplain Scholarship:
- You have been accepted into The Mother Churchβs U.S. military chaplain program
- You are enrolled in an approved graduate program at Boston University (or another approved school)
- You are a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
- You have financial need as shown in your 1040 tax return.

Instructions:
- Request your personalized online application form during an open intake period.
- Write your student statement.
- Gather all other required documents. Many of the required documents may take several weeks to receive from third parties, so plan accordingly. Attachments must be submitted at the time of application.
- Complete and submit your application by the deadline. Allow a minimum of 4-6 weeks for us to process your application. If you are awarded a scholarship, a check will be issued in the name of the institution and mailed to your permanent home address. It is your responsibility to deliver the check to your institution.

β Letter of Enrollment or Course Schedule
First year students must provide a letter showing enrollment or acceptance of admission for the upcoming term at your accredited institution. Returning students must provide a course schedule for the upcoming term.
β 1040 Tax Return
Students enrolled in graduate programs (only) must submit a copy of their most recent IRS 1040 tax return form.

Before you request an application, please make sure you have thoroughly read through the Scholarship Requirements. Before you begin filling out your online application, make sure you have gathered ALL Required Documents. You cannot save your progress during the application and will need to submit all document attachments in one session.
