Anna learned about Christian Science in 2003 from a neighbor who invited her to visit the church in Nairobi. Anna says that from that first service, “I never looked back.” She soon joined The Mother Church (TMC) and then her branch church, and in 2006 she took Christian Science class instruction.
After university, where she majored in Rural Sociology and Community Development, Anna volunteered in Somaliland as a teacher. Upon her return, inspired to do more, she enrolled in a master’s program so she could find ways to contribute to ending Africa’s poverty. Today she is passing her blessings forward by helping women write proposals to start income-generating projects. She has also been recruited by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). They are working on placing her in a developing country so she can use her skills to help raise living standards in the community where she will live.
She says, “The best thing about ABF’s funding to students is that the investment is sustainable. These young Christian Scientists become the light in their community, and they are good role models.” Not the least of these role models is Anna Wambugu!
